Q : How do you read a code date?
A: Our sell-by dates are straight forward. The date on the package is the recommended date the product that should be sold and consumed. Products that do not have a sell by date, we use a 5-date Julian dating system. Refer to the image below for help on how to understand the Julian code.

Q: What is the typical shelf life of our products?
A: All of our products have a shelf life ranging from 6 to 12 months. Please e-mail us at QC@sparrers.com for information on specific products.
Q: How is sausage made?
A: We purchase fresh and frozen beef, pork and turkey from all over the world. We blend and cut the meat with spice formulas and recipes that date back to 1938. The meat blend is then stuffed into casing. Next, the product is hung on smokehouse cages and placed in modern processing oven that cooks up to 15,000 lbs. at one time. Natural sawdust is burned during the cook process, which gives the sausage an old world aroma and taste. After cooking, the sausage is chilled down and made ready for packaging. Finished product is then packaged and shipped to stores near you.
Q: Can I stop in and buy some sausage to take home?
A: Unfortunately, the only way to purchase our sausage is from your local retailer or right here off of our website. Just click the link at the top of the page to enter our online store.
